ABOUT OUR VIDYALAYA

Establishment: The Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Banipur, North 24 Parganas was established in May 2003 and started functioning from 15thDec'2003 in a temporary site of SCERT, Govt. of West Bengal. The Vidyalaya shifted to its permanent site at Banipur on 1st May 2008. In the session 2010– 11 the anticipated students strength is approximately 450 and has 34 staff in total (both teaching and non-teaching) members.

The vidyalaya has been working under Ministry of Human Resource Development in the Department of Higher Education & School Education, Govt. of India. The vidyalaya is co-educational residential school fully financed by the Govt. of India through an autonomous organization, Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti.

The vidyalaya is basically to encourage and promote talent predominantly from rural areas and weaker sections of the district and to provide them with quality modern education for their all – round development.

The vidyalaya is a model of pace setter institution in the district and is a resource centre for promotion of excellence.
